To quote: "A UP Manila faculty was recently bestowed a Diplomate title by the Philippine Academy of Microbiology (PAM). Associate Professor Marilen P. Balolong, of the Department of Biology of the College of Arts & Sciences, received the conferment during the 45th Annual Convention and Scientific Meeting and 7th Asia Pacific Biotechnology Congress, July 20-24, 2016, at the Vigan Convention Center, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

CAS Faculty Conference 2016: One CAS, Towards One UP Manila

This year's two-day Faculty Conference of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) with its theme “One CAS: Towards One UPM” was held at the Development Academy of the Philippines in Tagaytay City on August 4-5, 2016. The conference aims to foster interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaboration among the departments and programs of CAS and align them with the health oriented mandate of UP Manila.

EIDR Research Study - RTD with partner LGU’s and TRC’s

A Round Table Discussion (RTD) with partner Local Government Units (LGU’s) and Treatment Rehabilitation Centers (TRC’s) was held on July 20, 2016 at CAS Alumni Conference Room to present Phase 1 of the research study entitled " Drug Use and Behavioral Health Among Young People in Metro Manila and Neighboring Provinces: A Baseline cum Intervention Study”. Phase I of the study focused on identifying the numerous problems associated with drug use and developing statistical data to more accurately define and determine the most serious problems.
