CHANCELLOR PADILLA MEETS WITH CAS DEAN AND FACULTY

UP Manila Chancellor Carmencita D. Padilla recently met with faculty members of CAS to discuss the status of research projects, research collaboration, funding sources, possible use of laboratory rooms of the new NIH building for research and other research related matters. Vice Chancellor for Research and NIH Executive Director Eva Maria Cutiongco - De la Paz spoke on the subject of Minimizing Bureaucracy to Maximize Research Efficiency.

CAS Dean Leonardo R. Estacio Jr. mentioned that the 2016 Faculty Conference focused more on the teaching responsibilities of the faculty than research activities. Chancellor Padilla assured the faculty members of her commitment and support to CAS and encouraged them to be more actively involved, especially in research opportunities funded outside the university.

There were approximately 30 faculty members in attendance and Chancellor Padilla afforded them the opportunity to address issues and concerns during the Q&A session.

The meeting was also attended by Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development Michael L. Tee and Vice Chancellor for Administration Arlene A. Samaniego. (DAEstanislao)
