dc.description.abstract The present study investigated the effect of the combined supplementation of vitamin E and ubiquinol to lipid peroxide levels and catalase activity. Twenty five mice were assigned into five groups: (1) unexposed, with no vitamin supplementation (NSNS); (2) smoke exposed, with no vitamin supplementation (SNS); (3) smoke exposed, and supplemented with vitamin E alone (SVE); (4) smoke exposed, and supplemented with ubiquinol alone (SU); (5) smoke exposed, and supplemented with combined Vitamin E and ubiquinol (SUV). The lung tissue homogenates of the SNS group showed the highest lipid peroxide levels while the SUV group had the lowest the lowest lipid peroxide levels and was even less than that of the NSNS group. The findings have shown that dietary supplementation of vitamin E and Ubiquinol are important factors in preventing the formation of lipid peroxides and activity of catalase in the lung tissue of mice exposed to cigarette smoke. en_US
