One of the more glaring effects of the rapid growth of the population
and urbanization is the corresponding increase in the solid wastes being
generated. Managing solid wastes has ever since been a chronic problem that
legislators and ordinary citizens alike cannot seem to address comprehensively.
The ideal system of solid waste management should incorporate sound practices
in its various stages: from generation to storage, collection, transportation,
processing, until its final disposal. Otherwise it would wreak dire effects on the
environment, the economy and on the people's health and well-being.
This study is an evaluation of the efficiency of the current solid waste
management system of the most populated city in NCR which is Quezon City.
The level of awareness, insights and opinions of the residents were surveyed to
gauge the perceived efficiency of the existing system. |
