Abstract:
This research is about the feasibility and applicability of the adoption
of the US jury system in the prosecution of criminal cases here in the
Philippines.
The researcher will use the following factors in order to determine
whether or not the adoption of the said system is feasible, namely the
qualifications of the Filipino people to become a juror, the economic aspects,
its cost of implementation and the political socialization aspect.
The present situation of the Philippine judiciary is that the trust in
faith of the people in the justice system is low due to numerous allegations
of bias and partial judges along with the slow resolution of cases that
eventually leads to the clogging of courts and backlogging of cases. All of
these problems contributes to the decay of the judicial system.
This research aims to address these issues. By presenting a new
system, that if proven to be applicable, could be adopted to put a resolution
to the problems. The fundamental features of the US jury system has indeed
contributed to the stability of the legal system of the United States.
Recommendations will also be given to the different branch of the
Government tasked to administer justice in lieu of the analysis and
interpretation of the data gathered.
