Abstract:
Taal: A Heritage Town is a study in the history and
culture of the town of Taal. For many years, Taal had
always been known as the “Grand Lady of Batangas”. It is
one of the oldest towns in the province. From 1732 to 1754
it was the capital of Batangas province. It has many
historical landmarks and sites. One of them is the Basilica
of St. Martin of Tours, which is reputed to be the biggest
church in the Orient. There are many famous products from
Taal. To name a few, these are the balisong, barong and
panutsa. Other native products are pinipig, sawali, suman,
tapang taal, longganisa, tsinelas (slippers), tamales and
nilupak. It is imperative that the local government and
civic organizations extend their greatest efforts to
preserve the glorious history of Taal in the present and in
the years to come.
