dc.description.abstract Central to this study are the socio-economic effects of commercial fishing along Tayabas bay focusing particularly among fishermen in Brgy. Dalahican, Lucena City. The institution and the structural problems that are so tremendous in the area such as the encroachment of large commercial fishing that migrate within the municipal waters, deficiency in the government support, inadequate enforcement of laws due to dysfunctional law enforcers, and the exploitative market system, cause the socio-economic marginalization of municipal fishers. The institutional and structural problems laid down in this study are based on what most fisherfolks lamented and the researcher's observation and data gathering in the area. In line with this, recommendations were made in the final part of the paper to redirect the course and guide the municipal fishers to the road of progress. en_US
