Abstract:
Museum Education. This is a problematic term according to some studies made.
Why? Because it was, in the past, already understood that the term ‘museum’ has
education attached to it. But this connection, somewhere along time, was lost. The term
‘education’ had to be attached to the museum. This term, at least, emphasizes the role
of museum as educational institutions rather than the visible concept of education being
lost somewhere between the lines. This study allows readers to take part in
understanding how learning takes place inside the museum.
This study is divided into five parts: The first part is an introduction to the study
that gives an overview of what the researcher would like to do in his thesis. included in it
are the background of the study, statement of the problem and its objectives. The
second part is a review of literature related to the topic. These do not just contain
foreign sources but local as well. The third part is the background of the study tracing
the roots of museum education from the early Greeks down to the twentieth century and
ending with the Ayala Museum. The fourth part is the actual presentation of data
needed to fulfill the objectives. Here the definition and programs of the Ayala Museum
are given. Lastly, the summary, analysis and conclusion comprise the fifth part.
This study was made so that readers may be able to maximize their experience
inside the museum. So they will not only enjoy but learn as well. This study is a door to
the complex, cultural, interesting, technical but wonderful world of museum education.
