Velarde-Bagay-Suarez map given by Justice Antonio Carpio for UP Manila
Dean Leonardo R. Estacio Jr. receives the life size reproduction of the 1734 Velarde-Bagay-Suarez map given by Justice Antonio Carpio for UP Manila. Considered as the “Mother of all Philippine Maps”, it shows that Panacot (now Scarborough Shoal) and Los Bajos de Paragua (now Spratlys) formed part of the Philippine Territory since 1734. The map will be displayed in the Administration Office of the College of Arts and Sciences.
