UPM CAS faculty, staff goes through CSW training to increase work efficiency

To increase operational efficiency within the University of the Philippines’ College of Arts and Sciences, administrative and support staff and Executive Committee members of the college participated in the Completed Staff Work (CSW) training held last June 14 and August 3.

The CSW training for the CAS faculty administrators and staff was held at The Manila Hotel during the first day of its annual two-day Capacity Building Workshop, while the CSW training for the Executive committee members was held in-campus. Both trainings were facilitated by Mr. Pepito Dizon who is currently a University Extension Specialist at the UP National Engineering Center, University of the Philippines Diliman and is experienced in Public Administration specialized in Public Policy and Program Administration.

During the training the participants were taught about the basics and usage of the CSW, which is a process wherein the staff thoroughly studies the problem then creates recommendations to their supervisor. These recommendations can then be approved or disapproved, therefore shortening the process of decision making that saves the organization time and resources.

Mr. Dizon discussed the importance of incorporating the CSW in the college’s everyday operation as an effective management and decision-making tool. All attendees participated both in the discussions and immersive group sharing to get a good grasp of the process.
