The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) warmly welcomed Professor Joerg Lehmann, Ph.D., DABR, FAAPM, during his arrival last June 22, 2024 as a visiting professor at the Department of Physical Sciences and Mathematics (DPSM).
Prof. Lehmann is a Principal Medical Physics Specialist at the Department of Radiation Oncology at the hospital of Calvary Mater Newcastle in Waratah, Australia. He is also a Conjoint Professor at the University of Newcastle, and a Deputy Director at the Institute of Medical Physics at the University of Sydney. He obtained his PhD in 1999 at the Technical University of Ilmenau/University of Göttingen, Germany, after which, he moved to Stanford University, USA, for a postdoctoral fellowship. He held positions at the University of California Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and private practice in the USA before moving to Australia in 2011. With a distinguished career in both the academe and clinical practice, Prof. Lehmann has authored 80 peer-reviewed publications, holds a US patent, and delivered numerous presentations at scientific conferences. His contributions have led to improvements in clinical products directly impacting patient care.
The esteemed professor will be teaching for the mid year academic term for the Master of Science in Applied Physics Program students of DPSM. He will serve as visiting professor for three weeks.
On July 5, he will be delivering a public lecture at the UP Manila Theater, which will also be broadcasted via Zoom, on the topic, “Delivering the Prescribed Dose: Quality Assurance in Radiation Oncology”.
