Project Lingap: Mental health initiative

🌱 β€œWhen the spirit of volunteerism is cultivated, the impact blooms and continues to proliferate.”

On April 23, 2025, the UP Behavioral Science Society, in partnership with the UPM CAS Office of the Associate Dean for Research and Public Service, successfully held the Magallanes Community Program at the Magallanes Multi-purpose Hall, Cavite β€” a meaningful initiative under Project Lingap.

Led by Dr. Dindo P. Cafe, Associate Dean for Research and Public Service, and powered by the passion and dedication of volunteer students from the Department of Behavioral Sciences (DBS), the workshop focused on Adolescent Development and Mental Health and Well-being.

With around 50 participants β€” including adolescents, LGU health workers, and UP Manila student volunteers β€” the program aimed to:
βœ”οΈ Raise awareness on the stages of adolescent development and associated physical, emotional, and social changes
βœ”οΈ Deepen understanding of mental health and well-being within the community
βœ”οΈ Provide practical tools to help manage stress, anxiety, and emotional challenges

A lecture-workshop was also included during the event delivered by Assistant Professor Marie Diane Y. Monsada and Instructor Marion Abilene R. Navarro both from DBS.

This initiative was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the UPM CAS OADREPS, UP Community Health and Development Program (UP CHDP), the Magallanes Local Government Unit, and the unwavering spirit of volunteerism that drives Project Lingap.

Together, we continue to empower communities β€” one step, one story, one service at a time. πŸ’š
