DPSM BS ComSci Student ranks 5th in 29th Philippine Statistics Quiz NCR Championship
Mr. Matthew Labrado, a BS Computer Science freshman of the Department of Physical Sciences and Mathematics (DPSM), College of Arts and Sciences, ranked 5th out of 21 participants during the 29th Philippine Statistics Quiz Regional Championship for the National Capital Region (NCR) last November 6, 2025, at the Hotel Lucky Chinatown, Binondo, Manila.
Twenty-one universities battled during the elimination round and only the top 12 schools proceeded to the final round. During the final round, Labrado took 20 points to rank 5th while the contestant from UP Diliman got 28 points to emerge as the NCR champion, who will then represent NCR during the National Finals in December.
This is the first time that UP Manila joined the competition. Labrado was trained by his coach, Mr. Justin Mesias of DPSM. The event was organized by the Philippine Statistics Authority.
