DOH, Dept. of Physical Sciences and Mathematics to team up on data science initiatives
Representatives from the Knowledge Management and Information Technology Service of the Department of Health (DOH) met with CAS Dean Dr. Maricon Carrillo, DPSM Chair Dr. Marie Josephine De Luna, and Computer Science Professor and former IMS Director Dr. Geoffrey Solano last November 22, 2023 to explore potential partnerships in the field of data science. Dr. Solano gave a brief presentation on the MS Data Science program that is slated to be offered by the next academic year.
The DOH visitors expressed their need for trainings in the field, both through a formal degree program, as well as in short courses for basic data science and knowledge management for healthcare workers and professionals at various responsibility levels. Aside from trainings, DOH also expressed interest to partner with DPSM on data engineering projects for both faculty and students.
CAS and DOH aim to formalize linkages through MOUs in the near future.
