MPHPS Shielding Seminar 2024: “Shielding Design for Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine”
The Medical Physics and Health Physics Services, Inc. (MPHPS), in collaboration with the Learning Resource Center (LRC) and the Physics & Geology Unit of the Department of Physical Sciences and Mathematics (PGU-DPSM), conducted a seminar regarding shielding design and protection considerations for diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine facilities, particularly in medical radiography, computed tomography, mammography, dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA), and PET/CT. This was held last May 4, 2024, Saturday at the LRC-AVR from 8AM to 12NN.
There were 56 attendees who were mostly undergraduate and graduate students from UP Manila and other institutions. The speakers were able to present the essential information and impart important insights to the participants. The goal for the seminar is to foster research, collaboration and partnership between the UP Manila and various stakeholders in performance testing of medical devices and facilities.
