DB Students Win T.H. Quimio Best Undergraduate Thesis Award

Students of the Department of Biology (DB) of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) won first place in the T.H. Quimio Best Undergraduate Thesis Award during the 25th Annual Scientific Meeting and Symposium of the Mycological Society of the Philippines (MSP) held last June 20-22, 2024.

Daniel G. Dalisay and Ivan Clyde P. Libao delivered an oral presentation of their thesis entitled, “In vitro and In situ Application of Chitosan-rich Crude Extract from Perna viridis Shells for the Control of Post-Harvest Diseases in Mangifera indica cv. Carabao”. Both Dalisay and Libao were closely supervised and co-supervised by Assistant Professor Kiara Nicole Rodriguez, MSc and Ms. Melissa P. Montecalvo, MSc., from the National Crop Protection Center, CAFS, UPLB.

 

The 25th Annual Scientific Meeting and Symposium of the Mycological Society of the Philippines was organized by the UST Department of Biological Sciences with this year’s theme: “Unearthing Fungal Network: Transcending Borders and Forging Interconnections”.
