CAS Week 2024 opened last October 7, 2024 at UP Manila Theater with the theme “BacKAS ng KAS: Nakaraan sa Kasalukyan”.
Dean Carrillo welcomed everyone to the opening of the weeklong event which is from October 7-11. She enjoined everyone to actively participate in the various activities and celebrate. She reminded that CAS Week was originally held in July when CAS was instituted as a college but it was changed to October for wider student participation. She thanked the various committees for their untiring effort to make CAS Week a success.
On behalf of the officers and members of CAS Alumni Society Inc. (CASASI), Ms. Benita C. Tanyag, President, wished everyone a rewarding and enjoyable CAS week celebration and congratulated the organizers for the “impressive lineup of activities for the week.” She said that the theme alone conveyed the intention to inspire CAS students. She commended their efforts to connect the students to members of CASASI and share their experiences and insights about the field they choose to pursue after graduation. Ms. Tanyag encouraged all CAS students to listen and actively participate in the lectures and other activities during the week. She hoped that the students would take advantage of the opportunity. She could not remember that CAS Week was ever held during her time as a student at the college. She hoped that CAS administration and faculty would carry on this “beautiful tradition that mirrors our shared commitment to nurturing competent, compassionate and ethical leaders, professionals, innovators and scientists.”
“Ang pagsisilbi sa mga estudyante ay sumisiklab sa aming puso.” Jethro Bravo of CAS Student Council (CASSC) believed that this event would not only enlighten but uplift the student body to participate in the various activities that were prepared along its mandate to serve as the highest student policy-making body at CAS. The CASSC has prepared fun-filled activities throughout the week. Booths for the All Orgs’ Fair were set up and available throughout the week. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the Rizal Hall lobby to formally open this event. Ms. Jessalyn Basco, Coordinator of the Office of Alumni Affairs (OAA), gave an overview of the events scheduled for the week including the Alumni/Career Talk, and culminating activities (CAS Got Talent and CAS Awards 2024), among others.
