CAS strengthens Disaster Preparedness through participation during the NSED

The College of Arts and Sciences actively took part in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill on September 11, 2025, at 4:00 PM.


Students, faculty, administrative staff, security personnel, PhilCare representatives, construction workers, and tenants participated in the drill, simulating an immediate response to a strong earthquake. Following the protocol of “Duck, Cover, and Hold”. The college proceeded with orderly evacuation, survivor headcounts, and casualty identification.


The drill highlighted the university’s commitment to safety and readiness in the face of natural disasters. It also emphasized the importance of collective action in reducing risks and protecting lives.


A total of 605 participants joined the activity across three sites:


Rizal Hall – 239 participants (25 faculty, 30 administrative staff, 4 REPS, 170 students, 6 PhilCare, 4 security, 20 construction workers)


Gusaling Andres Bonifacio – 300 participants (29 faculty, 7 administrative staff, 1 REPS, 5 RA, 234 students, 9 PhilCare, 3 security, 12 construction workers)


Student Center – 46 participants (1 administrative staff, 41 students, 1 PhilCare, 1 security, 2 tenants)


Through this drill, the college continues to ensure that its constituents are prepared, vigilant, and resilient in times of unexpected seismic events.
